Điểm xét tuyển vào lớp 10 thường được tính như sau:
Điểm xét tuyển = Điểm thi môn ngữ văn + điểm thi môn toán + điểm thi môn ngoại ngữ + điểm ưu tiên, khuyến khích (nếu có).
Nguyện vọng của các em được xét theo thứ tự. Căn cứ chỉ tiêu từng trường, Sở xét từ trên xuống dưới cho đến khi đủ học sinh, nguyên tắc là điểm chuẩn nguyện vọng sau không thấp hơn nguyện vọng trước.
Cách đây 3 ngày, Sở GD&ĐT TPHCM công bố điểm chuẩn Trường THPT chuyên Trần Đại Nghĩa và Trường THPT chuyên Lê Hồng Phong. Hai trường này đều lấy điểm chuẩn lớp 10 cao nhất với chuyên sinh.

Theo kế hoạch, từ 15h ngày 26/6 đến 16h ngày 1/7, thí sinh xác nhận nhập học trực tuyến vào các trường THPT các loại hình còn lại tại địa chỉ:https://ts10.hcm.edu.vn
Trước 10h ngày 28/6, phòng GD&ĐT tập trung hồ sơ phúc khảo các trường THCS và nộp về Phòng Khảo thí và Kiểm định chất lượng, Sở GD&ĐT TPHCM.
Ngày 3-10/7, thí sinh trúng tuyển ở tất cả loại hình thực hiện thủ tục nhập học trực tiếp tại trường THPT đã xác nhận thông qua hệ thống trực tuyến. Sở lưu ý, trường hợp phụ huynh và học sinh không hoàn thành thủ tục nhập học, thí sinh sẽ xem như bị loại khỏi danh sách trúng tuyển.
Dự kiến ngày 11/7, công bố kết quả phúc khảo.
Từ ngày 12-14/7, xét tuyển bổ sung các trường hợp trúng tuyển sau phúc khảo.

Từ ngày 20-21/7, các trường THPT báo cáo tình hình học sinh trúng tuyển nộp hồ sơ nhập học. Ngày 22/7, các trường THPT báo cáo nhu cầu và số lượng tuyển bổ sung lớp 10 (nếu có).
Năm ngoái, Trường THPT Nguyễn Thượng Hiền dẫn đầu bảng xếp hạng với 24,25 điểm nhưng giảm 1,25 điểm so với 2023.
Với cách tính điểm xét tuyển là tổng 3 môn ngữ văn, toán, ngoại ngữ và điểm ưu tiên (nếu có), thí sinh muốn trúng tuyển vào Trường THPT Nguyễn Thượng Hiền phải có điểm trung bình gần 8,09 điểm mỗi môn.
Tiếp sau đó là ba trường tiếp theo cùng lấy 23,25 điểm là THPT Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, Nguyễn Hữu Huân, Trần Phú, giảm nhẹ 0,25-1 điểm. Dù giảm điểm chuẩn, cả ba trường đều tăng 1-5 hạng so với năm ngoái.
