Theo Ngân hàng Nhà nước, doanh số giao dịch bằng USD quy đổi ra tiền đồng trong tuần (từ ngày 23 – 27.12.2024) đạt khoảng 388.606 tỉ đồng, bình quân 77.721 tỉ đồng/ngày, giảm 7.658 tỉ đồng/ngày so với tuần trước. Các kỳ hạn có doanh số lớn là kỳ hạn qua đêm và 1 tuần với tỷ trọng lần lượt là 81,39% và 13,64% tổng doanh số giao dịch. Lãi suất USD dao động từ 4,39 – 5,44%/năm.

Giá USD thế giới tăng mạnh, chỉ số USD-Index tăng 0,7 điểm, lên 109,24 điểm. Đồng USD đã tăng vọt lên mức cao nhất trong 2 năm trong ngày giao dịch đầu tiên của năm 2025 do kỳ vọng tăng trưởng của Mỹ sẽ vượt qua các quốc gia khác và duy trì lãi suất của Mỹ ở mức tương đối cao.
Dữ liệu mới công bố cũng đã khẳng định thị trường việc làm Mỹ vững chắc. Số lượng người Mỹ nộp đơn xin trợ cấp thất nghiệp mới đã giảm xuống mức thấp nhất trong 8 tháng vào tuần trước, cho thấy tỷ lệ sa thải thấp vào cuối năm 2024.
Cục Dự trữ liên bang Mỹ (Fed) đã chỉ ra rằng họ sẽ thận trọng hơn trong việc cắt giảm lãi suất vì lạm phát vẫn đang ở mức cao hơn mục tiêu hằng năm 2% và nền kinh tế vẫn mạnh. Các chính sách của Tổng thống đắc cử Mỹ Donald Trump cũng được kỳ vọng sẽ thúc đẩy tăng trưởng và có khả năng làm tăng thêm áp lực giá cả.
Bước sang năm 2025, đồng USD được dự đoán sẽ tiếp tục duy trì sức mạnh của mình nếu Fed vẫn thận trọng về việc cắt giảm lãi suất và các chính sách của ông Trump tiếp tục thúc đẩy kỳ vọng lạm phát.
