“Chúng tôi đang làm việc với Lee Nguyễn. Đội muốn có cậu ấy và việc đàm phán đang được tiến hành. Tuy nhiên, tới thời điểm hiện tại hai bên chưa chốt được thoả thuận. Nếu có được Lee Nguyễn, CLB TP HCM sẽ thông báo ngay”, Chủ tịch TP.HCM Nguyễn Hữu Thắng nói vào chiều 20/2.
Được biết, Lee Nguyễn không phải dễ dàng để phá vỡ hợp đồng với Inter Miami, bởi đội bóng của Chủ tịch David Beckham đã ký hợp đồng thi đấu mùa giải 2020 với Lee Nguyễn với giá 500 ngàn đô la.
Đây là tiền chi ra để có sự phục vụ của Lee Nguyễn, chưa rõ điều khoản bồi thường nếu muốn chấm dứt hợp đồng với CLB nước Mỹ. Bình thường, CLB sẽ nhận nhiều hơn số tiền mà cầu thủ muốn ra đi chi trả nhằm đạt được mong muốn.
Lee Nguyễn trước đó không đồng ý với đề nghị 800 ngàn đô la mà TP.HCM đưa ra. Tuy nhiên, trước con số 1 triệu đô la, người ta vẫn chưa nghe thấy động thái đáp trả của Lee Nguyễn. Có thể Lee Nguyễn sẽ cân nhắc thêm về vấn đề lương bổng sẽ nhận ở đội bóng mới tại Việt Nam. Ngoài ra, Lee Nguyễn, như đã đề cập, còn nghĩ về thất bại trong quá khứ.

Anh bị hụt chân khi sân tập lồi lõm và lật cổ chân một thời gian dài. Cộng thêm tâm lý chán nản, tiền vệ sinh năm 1986 quyết định thôi nghe lời cha mình thử sức tại Việt Nam.
Trở về Mỹ năm 2012, Lee Nguyễn như “cá gặp nước” và thể hiện đúng đẳng cấp của mình. Tiền vệ 34 tuổi được xem là một trong những cầu thủ đá giữa sân hay nhất của bóng đá Mỹ nhiều năm qua.
Và nếu hồi hương lần này, Lee Nguyễn sẽ phải đắn đo nhiều, bởi không chỉ vấn đề tiền nong (Lee Nguyễn có thể kiếm được nhiều hơn chục tỷ đồng ở Mỹ khi không chỉ đá bóng mà còn có công việc khác), tiền vệ này còn phải làm quen với điều kiện V-League vốn đã khiến anh thất bại.
Chưa hết, mặt sân ở các CLB Việt Nam vẫn còn rất nghiệp dư và điều này sẽ không dễ cho Lee thích nghi. Hiện tại, mùa giải cũng đang cận kề và Lee Nguyễn cũng không có thời gian làm quen nhiều cùng TP.HCM.
Do đó, chuyện để Lee thăng hoa ngay và giúp ích cho đội của HLV Chung Hae Seong cũng không đơn giản. TP.HCM cũng sẽ thi đấu rất nhiều trong năm 2020 với các giải như Cúp QG, V-League, AFC Cup hay giải vô địch CLB Đông Nam Á, ở tuổi 34, sự bền bỉ của Lee Nguyễn cũng là điều cần tính toán.
