AFP đưa tin ngày 9/5, Quỹ Tiền tệ Quốc tế (IMF) cảnh báo những căng thẳng thương mại và sự áp đặt qua lại các biện pháp thuế quan giữa Mỹ và Trung Quốc “đe dọa đến nền kinh tế thế giới.”
Trả lời báo giới, người phát ngôn IMF Gerry Rice tiếp tục kêu gọi Mỹ và Trung Quốc đưa ra một “giải pháp nhanh chóng,” trong bối cảnh tiến trình đàm phán giữa hai nước đang chuẩn bị tiếp tục diễn ra.
Ông Rice nhấn mạnh: “Rõ ràng những căng thẳng giữa Mỹ và Trung Quốc trong vấn đề thương mại tạo ra một mối đe dọa đối với nền kinh tế toàn cầu. Như tôi đã nói từ trước, tất cả đều gặp tổn thất trong một cuộc xung đột thương mại kéo dài.”
Trong khi đó, trong tuyên bố mới nhất ngày 9/5, Bộ Thương mại Trung Quốc khẳng định Bắc Kinh đã hoàn toàn sẵn sàng bảo vệ lợi ích của nước này trong cuộc chiến thương mại với Mỹ, song hy vọng Washington có thể giải quyết những bất đồng thông qua đối thoại thay vì các bước đi đơn phương.
