Jose Arredondo sinh ở Mexico, gia đình có 11 anh chị em. Năm 12 tuổi, ông sang Mỹ làm thuê, dần dần gây dựng được đại lý xe hơi lớn tại thành phố Bakersfield, bang California. Ông Jose Arredondo còn sở hữu công ty bất động sản, nhà hàng, sân golf… Jose Arredondo thường xuyên làm từ thiện như trao học bổng giúp trẻ em được đến trường, tặng xe cho nhà thờ để bán đấu giá giúp đỡ người hoàn cảnh khó khăn.
Khi còn nhỏ, Kim Samuel từng quay quảng cáo cơ sở kinh doanh của cha. Kim Samuel từng nói họ thật của anh là Arredondo. Vì hoạt động ở Hàn Quốc, anh sử dụng họ của mẹ – Kim (người Hàn Quốc).
Kim Samuel sinh ngày 17/1/2002, tại Los Angeles, California. Anh nhận được nhiều sự chú ý khi tham gia show thực tế Produce năm 2017 của kênh truyền hình Mnet. Ca sĩ 17 tuổi được đánh giá cao ngoại hình, khả năng nhảy, đọc rap. Hai ca khúc Sixteen và Candy của anh từng giữ vị trí cao trên bảng xếp hàng Itunes tại nhiều quốc gia.
