Theo ông Hoàng Xuân Minh, Chủ tịch UBND quận Đồ Sơn, hội chọi trâu năm nay không bán vé. Chính vì vậy, từ 7 giờ sáng, sân vận động Đồ Sơn với sức chứa khoảng 3 vạn người đã không còn một chỗ trống. Ban tổ chức Lễ hội chọi trâu truyền thống Đồ Sơn năm 2019 đã phải đóng cửa sân để đảm bảo an toàn. Hàng nghìn người khác đến muộn đã không thể vào sân.
Được biết từ năm 2017, do có trâu húc chết người tại vòng loại nên Lễ hội chọi trâu truyền thống Đồ Sơn đã có nhiều sự thay đổi, khi chỉ còn vòng chung kết và Ban tổ chức không được bán vé cho du khách vào xem chọi trâu.
Điều này khiến vòng chung kết luôn xảy ra quá tải. Du khách về với lễ hội từ rất sớm nhưng rất vất vả để có thể vào sân xem chọi trâu.
