Pirlo được bổ nhiệm dẫn dắt đội một Juventus hôm 8/8, chỉ một tuần sau khi nhận vị trí HLV đội U23. Ông chưa từng cầm quân thi đấu trận nào, nhưng được Chủ tịch Andrea Agnelli hậu thuẫn. HLV 41 tuổi ký hợp đồng đến hè 2022. Ông thậm chí trẻ hơn thủ môn Gianluigi Buffon.

Tôi nghĩ Pirlo có đủ tiềm năng để trở thành HLV giỏi hơn cả Zinedine Zidane”, Del Piero nói thêm.
