Theo Trung tâm Kiểm soát bệnh tật tỉnh Bình Định, lúc 23h42 ngày 13.10, ông Trần Văn T (SN 1973, trú thị trấn Vĩnh Thạnh, huyện Vĩnh Thạnh) có triệu chứng sốt cao, đau đầu, nhức mỏi toàn thân, ho nhiều nên được gia đình đưa đến Trung tâm Y tế huyện Vĩnh Thạnh khám.
Tại đây, ông T được chẩn đoán bị viêm loét dạ dày/rối loạn tiền đình, viêm phế quản. Đến 18h ngày 16.10, ông T tiên lượng nặng nên được chuyển lên tuyến trên.
Đến 5h40 ngày 17.10, ông T được Bệnh viện Đa khoa tỉnh Bình Định chẩn đoán bị viêm phổi do virus. Lúc 18h ngày 17.10, ông T hôn mê sâu, thở máy; da nổi vân tím, phổi ít ran ẩm nổ 2 bên; nhịp tim xu hướng chậm dần, huyết áp không đo được. Đến 18h15 ngày 17.10, ông T được người nhà xin về và tử vong tại nhà.
Cũng trong ngày 17.10, Trung tâm Kiểm soát bệnh tật tỉnh Bình Định đã lấy mẫu bệnh phẩm ca viêm phổi nặng nghi do virus và gửi Viện Pasteur Nha Trang để xét nghiệm. Kết quả cho thấy ông T dương tính với Cúm A/H1pdm.
Ngày 19.10, Trung tâm Y tế huyện Vĩnh Thạnh phối hợp với Trạm Y tế thị trấn Vĩnh Thạnh tổ chức điều tra các yếu tố dịch tễ liên quan đến ca bệnh. Qua đó xác định, trong 14 ngày trước khi bị bệnh, ông T sống tại địa phương, không đi xa, không tiếp xúc với người có biểu hiện bệnh cúm, không sử dụng gia cầm ốm/chết/không rõ nguồn gốc.
Điều tra xung quanh khu vực ông T sinh sống, không phát hiện trường hợp mắc bệnh tương tự. Tại nhà ông T và các hộ gia đình khác không có nuôi heo, nuôi gà, không có cơ sở giết mổ gia súc, gia cầm.
Trước tình hình trên, Trung tâm Kiểm soát bệnh tật tỉnh Bình Định đề nghị Trung tâm Y tế huyện Vĩnh Thạnh tăng cường giám sát những trường hợp viêm phổi nặng nghi do vi rút (cúm biến chứng – cúm nặng) tại các cơ sở khám chữa bệnh trên địa bàn, có phương án chuyển viện kịp thời nhằm hạn chế bệnh chuyển nặng.
